Dagmar Waltemath | Prof. Dr.-Ing.

Professor of medical informatics (MILA)

Data integration, FAIRification, Health Standards

Head of Core Unit Data Integration Center (DIZ)

I am a computer scientist by training with a specialisation on database and information systems. Since December 2018 I am professor of Medical Informatics at the University Medicine in Greifswald, Germany, in the Institute of Community Medicine. Since May 2020 I lead the Research Data Integration Center at the University Medicine. My lab focuses on research data management in biomedicine, data integration across health care providers, and provenance of clinical research data items within clinical information systems. Furthermore, I am actively involved in COMBINE standardisation efforts (http://co.mbine.org). My lab will continue to develop methods and tools for model management in computational biology. More information on the Medical Informatics Laboratory is available on our website at https://www.medizin.uni-greifswald.de/medizininformatik/. The Core Unit Data Integration Center (CU DIZ) supports clinician scientists in all aspects of research data management. The CU DIZ develops methods and tools to extract primary care data from different clinical information systems into a standardised, accessible research data infrastructure. We work on concepts to convert clinical data silos into an integrated data pool that can be accessed by clinicians through a data transfer unit. Our current works are partially financed by the medical informatics initiative (MIRACUM, https://www.miracum.org/) and by the network of German university clinics (NUM CODEX, https://www.netzwerk-universitaetsmedizin.de/). More information is available on our website at https://www.medizin.uni-greifswald.de/diz/.
